Your Friday Recommendation #18

It’s Friday and instead of me recommending something for you to read, I want you to recommend something to me. Use the comments to tell me about your summer reading list. What did you read for the first time? What did you re-read because you love a good story? I’d love to hear from you.

  1. I’m on a Robert Olen Butler kick. I’ve read A Good Scent from a Strange Mountain and Tabloid Dreams over the last couple of weeks. I’m also in the middle of I Was Told There’d Be Cake. I wouldn’t recommend he Cake book, but the other two are great.

  2. I’ve heard mixed things about that cake book, too, Bronson. I keep meaning to check out more R.O.B.

Jorge, your combination of describing Levis’ work as having surrealism and migrant workers makes me wonder, would you say his poetry is in that magical realism genre?

Jorge and Bronson both have blogs worth your reading time, folks; Jorge is a poet and English teacher in Mankato and Bronson is teaching English in China this year while writing a memoir of his time in the armed forces.
