A New Kind of Christmas
A (Slightly-Inappropriate) 100-Word Short Story
By Nate Melcher
Inspired by the card’s artwork
The Frost Giant’s magic snowglobe kept Santa Claus prisoner for the next ten years. The world had no idea where he was or what had happened, only that Christmas was forever different.
It happened to the little boys and girls first. That first year was rough but by the second year it was rare to find a child who wanted objects as gifts. Instead, they wanted to do service projects and share what precious little they had. This infected the parents, and then the rest of the world. Santa’s reign of terror was over.
The Frost Giant had saved Christmas!
