08 Dashing Through the Snow

The little reindeer ran. Panting as its small hooves pounded in the snow, the reindeer never paused to notice the abandoned farm houses, their long shadows cascading over the hill. She gave no care to the tiny country church on the gravel road, its inside lights just about to click on in anticipation of Christmas Eve worship. And she thought nothing of the snowman’s smile or the red scarf that flapped in the breeze of her swift path around it. She did think it amusing, though, the snowman was perhaps waving, cheering her on as she ran for her freedom.
