A Christmas Eve Invitation.

2014.12.24 A Christmas Eve InvitationIf you’re in the area and you don’t have a church home for Christmas Eve, I invite you to Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church. There are worship services at 12:00pm, 2:00pm, 4:00pm, 7:00pm, and 11:00pm. All of them have different focuses you can learn more about, be sure you check the website to learn about parking options, and I’ll be at the 12:00pm (preaching), 7:00pm, and 11:00pm worship services. Come and see.
I wrote the following for the Christmas Eve worship bulletins at Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church and thought I’d share it here. Christmas brings on a menagerie of emotions. Perhaps these words offer reflection on welcoming the Christmas season.
Sisters and Brothers,
The season of Advent, this time of waiting and longing, is closing. In Christmas, a new time begins.
It is a time filled with faith in a creative God who steps with us.
A time filled with hope that death, violence, and evil do not have the final word.
A time filled with joy for the comforting, healing Holy Spirit.
A time filled with love of pieces gathered to form one whole.
And it is a time filled with the peace of a living Christ, God’s great gift to the world.
So light a candle. Sing a song. Whisper a prayer.
And do not be afraid, for the Christ child has arrived.

Thank you for reading my blog, The Life Mosaic, through both its busy days and days it’s like a ghost town. I’m so glad you’re here!
Merry Christmas and God bless you.
