Write a story from the point of view of a character waiting for someone to arrive. While they wait, let them take in their surroundings and describe the details that stand out to them in this story setting. How does the setting affect the character? What does meeting in this particular setting say about the characters’ relationship? Focus your energy on making as vivid a setting as possible. Give this exercise at least fifteen minutes of your time.
Write it up and see what happens.
