Your Monday Prompt #31

Write a scene in which two characters either meet for the first time or say ‘goodbye’ forever. In the story, choose a backdrop of weather for the scene and see how it affects the characters and/or theme of the story. Maybe a man and woman meet for a first date and the rain draws them close together under a restaurant awning. Perhaps the final farewell of a dying soldier and his comrade comes under a blistering hot sun. Or maybe two lovers break up in the middle of a hurricane.

You have a lot of freedom with this one, and the combinations are limitless; see what you can come up with. You may try pairing up the opposite combination you initially try as an exercise in writing extremes. Give this exercise fifteen minutes of your time, and thirty if you try the additional exercise of writing the opposite scenario in addition to your first story.

Write it up and see what happens,
