Think about a personal relationship you have with someone close to you – a friend, family member, co-worker, etc. Consider the nuances of that relationship, what you agree on, what you disagree on, what makes you laugh together, if you’ve cried together, if you’ve screamed at each other, given each other the silent treatment, and so on. Think about where that relationship is now. Feel free to scrawl down some notes about this relationship.
Now, write about that relationship, but instead of writing about it from your point of view, present it from the point of view of the other person in the relationship. Keep your writing in the first-person and write with honesty. Give this exercise fifteen minutes of your attention.
Write it up and see what happens.
